Coloured waxes can provide a wide variety of creative scope to your finishes, creating depth, interest, age and patina. With Vintro clear wax and our highly pigmented chalk paint™ you can have your wax in any colour you like. Coloured waxes work beautifully on both textured and smooth paint finishes. The application of a coloured wax on a piece furniture
Things to note:
- The ratio of paint vs wax can be adjusted depending on how strong you want the colour to be. But remember it still needs to be waxy and silky.
- You do not need to clear wax before you use your coloured wax.
- Apply your coloured wax straight on Vintro Chalk Paint™
- Should you need to remove just use Vintro Clear wax, over it and firmly wipe with a clean lint free rag to remove your coloured wax.
- Always use a clean lint free rag for waxing
- Depending on the colour you are working with, a white rag is often preferable
- When wiping, think of it like your "working it off", light pressure, feathering, blending and removing the excess
- The more pressure you use when wiping the more the initial colour will come through.
- Vintro coloured waxes don't take long to dry, and you add another layer of coloured wax over the top if you want to create more depth. Once your happy with the depth, give it a good buff to help harden and set it all in.

For a smooth finish
1. Add a little bit of water, 2. Stir Well, 3.Use a good quality flat synthetic brush
(its important with a fresh can that you stir well and thoroughly, once you've given it a good stir, the next time you go to use it's a quick stir)
Brush the paint in one direction
If you have covered in one coat then you have completed your painting, if you have missed bits where the wood is still visible, go with a second coat, you can water down the second coat even more for a really smooth finish.
Once the paint has dried, for a really smooth finish lightly with out too much pressure with 240 grit Sandpaper .
Wax or Lacquer to seal.

wax re-activates wax, anytime you apply wax over a "waxed" surface, it softens it's allowing you to re-work it.

What is a one and a half coat?

Painting with full strength Vintro Chalk Paint™ in a textured finish provides superior coverage often requiring only 1 to 1 and a half coats. A textured finish allows brush strokes to go through your finish, and they can be as chunky, and rustic as you allow depending on your brushing. This will allow you to create an aged or textured finish allow you to detail with a decorative wax, lacquer or glaze to bring out that texture.

How to apply your half coat
Remember : It's all about coverage not coats, if you have completely covered in one coat, you are done. If you can still see slight peeps of wood then a half coat is best, as you have already created all your texture and most of your coverage in the first coat. You don't need or necessarily want to do another thick layer of texture or paint over what you have already created, the half coat is really to just fill in the gaps. By watering it down it allows you to seamlessly fill in the gaps with little to no texture.

Painting Leather
Tax included.
Vintro Chalk Paint can be applied to many surfaces with little to no prep including Leather. Take a look at a video guide on one of the ways to paint Leather.
Things to Note:
Vintro Chalk Paint must be watered down prior to application
Take it slow and apply "thin" coats of paint to avoid paint build up or cracking. Thinned down paint will allow you to go into the creases and folds of the leather seamlessly without the paint "caking" up in those areas, and this is one of the main reasons why we suggest doing thing coats of paint
Use 600 grit sand paper to sand and remove any strokes or unwanted texture prior to waxing.
Painting Leather is a cosmetic makeover and will not fix any major existing cracks or peeling."Genuine Leather" paints and wears naturally & beautifully.

Tip: Lustre up your paint finish with a Vintro Metallic Wash

This Friday we are posting up a quick and fast way to add a little lustre to your Vintro Chalk Paint finish. This can be done on over any colour combination adding a translucent sparkle & lustre on your piece. Ideal for dressing tables, sideboards or any piece you want to add that sparkle and special finishing touch to.
Instructions:
Chalk Paint and wax your finish i(n the Video we have painted in Paloma Chalk Paint and waxed in a Stonebreaker coloured wax).
Mix your chosen Vintro Metallics (copper, gold or silver) with Water 50/50
Brush it over a section of your piece of furniture using your highly absorbent Staalmeester brush, this will cause the metallic wash to bead a little which is to be expected.
Grab a clean lint free rag and rag the metallic wash around until almost dry, then move onto the next section and repeat until you have covered the entire piece with your metallic wash. Take care to rotate your rag so you are working on a dry part each time.
Note : This technique works best over a waxed surface as it creates a silky non porous surface for you to work on allowing you easy control over your lustre.
Tip: Keep agitating the Metallic wash mix as you go (stir it) as the metal particles will start sinking to the bottom.

Creating a textured finish with Vintro Chalk Paint™ Dove

Opening your can of highly pigmented Dive Vintro Chalk Paint™ and the method to brush onto furniture for a textured finish. It includes tips on how to manipulate the paint to ensure the best coverage and desired esult.
For a textured finish
1. Shake your tin really well and then open, stir with a stirring stick (ensure it has a broad edge and does not scratch the tin, Vintro stirrers are great.) Continue stirring for approximately 1 - 2 minutes or until it reaches a creamy consistency.
2. Using ideally a Vintro Pure Bristle brush which will help create controllable texture brush every which way loading your brush up generously from the tin.Always maintain a "wet edge" on the brush on furniture so the paint does not grab.
Finish with Vintro Soft Wax or Coloured Soft Waxes to create depth and aged patine.

Things to remember:
Paint section by section taking care not to over brush paint that is already drying
Cobalt has superior coverage but if you require a second coat due to areas that have been missed, water down your coat and touch up those areas.
If you have unwanted texture in places use fine sand paper 240 grit or higher to sand the texture off.
Cobalt is a rich deep highly pigmented colour, if you sand you will get "scuff marks" but once you seal with wax or lacquer the "scuffing will disappear and the colour will even out.

Tips: with coloured waxes, work in big sections, then "feather" the excess off with a clean lint free rag and leave to dry. The coloured wax will set and harden.
If you want the colour to be more intense you can also apply two thin coats of coloured wax, or apply one coloured wax over the entire piece then mix a stronger coloured wax (with more paint) and use to darken bevels and detailing.
If you have created texture with your paint the coloured wax will sit in between the brush strokes and bring out the texture.

Quick and Easy Xmas Craft Idea- Creating a silver glass tea light holder or vase

Take a quick look at fun, quick and easy Xmas craft idea, a quick Video showing a great way to repurpose old glass cups or jars... perfect for weddings, special occasions and xmas!
